Banda Magda to perform at Purdue on Feb. 1
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – International music group Banda Magda will perform at 8 p.m. Feb. 1 in Lafayette’s Carnahan Hall. This performance is presented by Purdue Convocations with support from Dr. Nancy DiMartino and Stephen Borghi.
Attendees can join Purdue Convocations for a pre-show meetup at 7 p.m. in Carnahan Hall, which is at 2200 Elmwood Ave. in the Market Square Shopping Center in Lafayette.
Banda Magda has yet to meet a musical style into which its members can’t slide with seamless skill. A samba groove gives way to beautifully polyphonic French chansons, with journeys into lively Greek folk, percussive Afro-Peruvian landó, and more. Founded in 2010 by Greek-born composer, orchestrator, singer, and accordionist Magda Giannikou, Banda Magda has toured in more than 22 countries.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. Tickets are available at the Stewart Center box office at 765-494-3933 or 800-914-SHOW. Group tickets are also available to groups of 10 more.
