Purdue Online Learning, College of Engineering to showcase its offerings

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Working engineers and STEM professionals seeking to further their educations have looked to distance learning options offered by Purdue Engineering for more than 60 years.

Formerly known as the Division of Engineering Professional Education, and before as Continuing Engineering Education, the Division has evolved to become an integral and valued partner of Purdue Online Learning while working to advance the College of Engineering’s overarching goal of– Achieving the Pinnacle of Excellence at Scale by providing opportunities for lifelong learning and empowering working professionals globally.  

This collaborative group facilitates graduate degrees, certificate programs, and continuing education classes combining the quality of a Purdue education with the flexibility and custom fit of online studies. The online master’s in engineering program is consistently ranked among the top 5 by the U.S. News & World Report

During the week of Oct. 8, the Division is collaborating with Purdue Online Learning, Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP), Teaching and Learning Technologies, College of Engineering faculty, ECN, and others to showcase and share with the Purdue community more about its offerings and online learning. The schedule of events, which are detailed below, kick off on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. in Seng-Liang Wang Hall, with opening remarks by President Mitch Daniels and Mung Chiang, the John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering.  The event continues on Oct. 10 and 11, and will also include panel discussions with College of Engineering faculty, demonstrations of technologies and discussions about instructional design in online learning. The vision is for the sessions to be a catalyst for conversation and collaboration across campus to further the university's goals in online learning.

Tuesday, Oct. 9

• Wang Hall instructional technology overview.

• Networking lunch (Please RSVP).

• Wang Hall instructional technology discussion.

• Teaching and learning technologies and course design and development as resources.

Wednesday, Oct. 10

2-5 p.m., Wang Hall, Room 2501:

Vision for Purdue Online Learning discussion.

• Panel discussion: Teaching online conversation with College of Engineering faculty.

• Panel discussion: Teaching online conversation with professional certification instructors.

• Purdue Online Learning, College of Engineering exhibition (All day).

Thursday, Oct. 11

2-5 p.m., Wang Hall, Room 2500:
