Vintage Indiana festival to showcase the state's flourishing wine Industry

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Wine enthusiasts from across the state are getting ready for the 19th annual Vintage Indiana Festival, the state’s largest celebration of Hoosier wines, wineries and vineyards.

This year’s festival takes place noon to 6 p.m. June 2 at Military Park in downtown Indianapolis.

Festival-goers will have the opportunity to sample more than 200 wines from 29 different Indiana wineries, while enjoying live music from Christine Nicole Music, the Doo! and the Flying Toasters. There will also be food trucks, artisan vendors and displays by wine tourism and industry retailers.

“The festival gives wine enthusiasts and wineries an unparalleled experience,” said Katie Barnett, marketing Extension specialist for Purdue's Wine Grape Team. “Festival-goers have the opportunity to try new wines, experience new wineries and meet Indiana winemakers, all in one place. That’s pretty special. Beyond the wine, exploring wine tourism and shopping locally made crafts gives the festival a true Hoosier experience.”

New attractions to the festival this year include a photo booth and caricature venue.

Indiana annually welcomes more than 600,000 wine tourists to the state’s more than 90 wineries. The Indiana wine-grape industry has more than 600 grape-bearing acres and has contributed more than $600 million to the state economy.

This Vintage Indiana festival is open to everyone age 21 and older. Tickets are on sale now for the festival. Tickets are $30 if purchased in advance and $40 if purchased at the gate. VIP tickets are also available, which grant access to the park an hour before general admission, a larger wine glass and a lanyard. The first 10,000 guests will receive an etched wine glass. The price of admission allows festival-goers to sample wine from all participating wineries. Food, artisan crafts and wine by the bottle or glass will be available for purchase.
