Learn seedless cucumber production during SWPAC high tunnel tour

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Extension and North-Central Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education will host a high tunnel tour June 13, 7-9 p.m. EST, at the Southwest Purdue Agricultural Center, 4369 N. Purdue Road, Vincennes.

Registration and self-guided tours of the facility begin at 6:30 p.m. EST.

Participants will evaluate 16 seedless cucumber varieties, observe different trellises and pruning systems for growing cucumbers in high tunnels, and learn the potential of extending early season cucumber production using grafting techniques.

In addition to cucumbers, presenters will also address tomato and summer squash production in high tunnels. Participants will learn about summer squash variety selection, pruning and trellising systems, and how to maximize the use of grafting techniques on tomatoes. There will also be a demonstration of growing strawberries with plasticulture and an innovative low-tunnel system.
