Bike workshops give youth a chance to roll into spring

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Indiana 4-H and Purdue Extension are offering young people in grades 3-8 an opportunity to learn all about bicycles in workshops throughout the state this spring.

Each event will cover bicycle safety and maintenance, the rules of the road, how to properly fit a bicycle and helmet, and nutrition for an active lifestyle. Workshop cost is $10 per participant. Following each workshop, families are invited to join the participants for a group ride at no additional cost.

The schedule:

* April 21, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: 1401 J St., Bedford. Registration deadline is April 13. For more information or to sign up, go to https://bit.ly/lawrence4hbike.

* April 28, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Fowler Park Log Barn, 3000 E. Oregon Church Road, Terre Haute. Registration deadline is April 20. For more information or to sign up, go to https://bit.ly/vigo4hbike.

* May 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Miami County Fairgrounds, 1029 West 200 N, Peru. Registration deadline is April 27. For more information or to sign up, go to https://bit.ly/miami4hbike.

* May 19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Historic Wysor Street Depot (Cardinal Greenway), 700 E. Wysor St., Muncie. Registration deadline is May 11. For more information or to sign up, go to https://bit.ly/delaware4hbike. Registration is limited to 20 participants for this session.
