WSJ columnist, Fox News commentator to visit Purdue for BCC event

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Jason Riley, a Wall Street Journal columnist and Fox News commentator, will speak at  Purdue University at 7 p.m. Wednesday (March 28) in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall.

Riley, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, will speak about his most recent book, titled “False Black Power?” which was published in June and examines race relations during Barack Obama’s presidency.

“The BCC Haraka Writers will be presenting a spoken word piece titled ‘We Depend on We’ prior to Jason Riley’s lecture,” said Renee Thomas, director of Purdue’s Black Cultural Center, which is sponsoring the event.

Riley is the author of two other books published in 2008 and 2014. In “Let Them In,” he argues for a free-market orientation of U.S. immigration policy, and in “Please Stop Helping Us,” he documents the track record of government efforts to help the black underclass.

Riley has spent more than 20 years writing opinion pieces on politics, economics, education, immigration and race, among other subjects, for the Wall Street Journal. He’s also a commentator for Fox News, where he’s appeared for more than a decade, and he’s a frequent public speaker.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information about the event, email Thomas at rathomas@purdue.edu.
