Ethan Lipton and his Orchestra Return to Perform at Carnahan Hall March 23-24

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A multi-day engagement with Ethan Lipton and his Orchestra will perform during a multi-day event at Purdue University.

The performance will include a reprise of the runaway hit of Convos’ Three Stories High Theatre Festival from 2015, “No Place to Go,” at 8 p.m. on March 23. Lipton will perform his newest work: The Outer Space,” during performances at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on March 24.

All performances will be held at Carnahan Hall, Suite A6, 2200 Elmwood Ave., Lafayette.  The events will be general admission, club-style seating. A cash bar will be available. These performances are presented by Purdue Convocations with support from the Liptonites.

Lipton and his Orchestra were recently featured on the hit Amazon TV series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

“No Place to Go”: Lipton is looking for an upside to the downturn – the economic downturn, that is. His character is the classic everyman that could easily be that guy in the cubicle next to you. You’ve probably had a half-hearted Monday morning chat about “them lousy bums” on the Sunday sports channel with someone like him, yet now you’ve learned that his job’s been outsourced to some distant locale and he’s trying to make the best of it, brave face and all. But you know the truth: There might not be much “best” to be found.

“The Outer Space”: Incessant noise. Inescapable pollution. Occupational woes. Overpriced real estate. Trading the cramped confines of Earth for the quiet expanse of the cosmos doesn’t sound so bad. But as Lipton learns, there is still much to weigh you down, even after you relocate to a place with zero gravity (and cheaper rent). Lipton’s all-new production, “The Outer Space,” is his companion piece to “No Place to Go,” a comedic cabaret theatre gem presented by the OBIE Award-winning playwright, actor, and singer at Convos’ Three Stories High Theatre Festival in downtown Lafayette in 2015.

Tickets for each performance are $25 for adults and $20 for children 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. Tickets are available at the Stewart Center box office at 765-494-3933 or 800-914-SHOW. Group tickets are also available to groups of 10 more.
