Purdue Galleries to present ‘INDECISIVE MOMENT’

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Robert L. Ringel Gallery in Stewart Center’s Purdue University Galleries will display a contemporary photography exhibition from Oct. 23 to Dec. 9 titled “INDECISIVE MOMENT.”

The exhibit will feature recent photographs by 10 contemporary artists: Matt Lipps, Anastasia Samoylova, Jill Greenberg, Jessica Labatte, Jennifer Niederhauser Schlup, Lorenzo Vitturi, Hannah Whitaker, Valerie Green, Delaney Allen and Hyounsang Yoo. Collectively, the images describe a current movement in photography that pushes photographic tools, technology, and methods to explore ideas of reality and materiality within a medium that is often considered immaterial. The exhibition opens at 10 a.m.  Oct. 23.

An opening reception and panel talk with guest artists Lipps, Samoylova and Labatte will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 25. The panel talk will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Stewart Center’s Room 310, running approximately one hour, with an exhibition reception in the gallery to follow.

The exhibition and related events were made possible by an Enhancing Research in the Humanities and the Arts at Purdue University grant, funded through Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts. The exhibit was originally curated and exhibited as part of the PASA (photography and science art) photography festival in Suwon, South Korea, in November 2016.

The Robert L. Ringel Gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, and 10 am. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays. All Purdue Galleries exhibits and events are free and open to the public.
