Indiana Horticultural Congress set for Feb. 13-15

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Growers of fruits, vegetables, wine grapes or flowers can learn more about production practices, processing, marketing, agritourism, pest and disease control, farm management and food safety at the Indiana Horticultural Congress and Trade Show, Feb. 13-15, at the Marriott East Hotel, 7202 E. 21st St., Indianapolis.

Purdue Extension specialists, friends and new acquaintances will find many networking opportunities during the special events and while visiting vendors of irrigation supplies, plant protection products, seeds, processed foods and equipment.

Special events will include:

*      Indiana wine reception and awards banquet

*      Cider judging contest

*      Silent auction

*      Pesticide core exam

*      Pesticide applicator recertification

*      Social hour

*      Beginning apple-growing workshop

Students and educators are eligible for free admission. Three-day and one-day registration packages are available. Cost of the three-day registration is $120 for the first member and $95 for additional attendees.

Accommodations are available at the special rate of $134 per night at the Marriott and $119 per night at the Delta Indianapolis East if rooms are reserved before Jan. 12.

Certified private pesticide applicators may attend recertification sessions. There is a small additional fee to attend the session and participants must know their private applicator license number to received recertification credit. Licensed commercial applicators in Category 1 may attend sessions for continuing certification hours.
