Farmer Veteran Coalition meeting Nov. 11 in North Salem

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Veterans, active military, and their families are invited to the inaugural meeting of the Farmer Veteran Coalition of Indiana, Nov. 11 at Blue Yonder Organic Farm in North Salem.

The meeting will include a farm tour and plenty of networking opportunities, said Cindy Chastain, veteran outreach coordinator for the Purdue University-based National AgrAbility Project and one of the event organizers.

“Although this is the inaugural meeting of the Farmer Veteran Coalition, we have already built a strong statewide support system for veterans who are currently involved in farming or want to learn more about career opportunities in agriculture,” Chastain said.

Michael O’Gorman, founder and executive director of the Farmer Veteran Coalition, will attend.

The meeting runs from 3-7 p.m. Sara Creech, owner/operator of Blue Yonder Organic Farm, will conduct tours from 3-5 p.m. Following the organizational meeting from 5-6 p.m., there will be dinner and a bonfire.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

Registration is requested by contacting Chastain at chastai1@purdue.edu or visiting the FVC of Indiana Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FVCIndiana/.
