Workshop helps grant writers prepare winning proposals

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Extension is offering an introductory course on preparing grant proposals. The two-session workshops will be held in seven communities throughout the state this fall.

Dates and locations are:

* Sept. 7 and Oct. 5: Purdue Extension-Spencer County office, 1101 E. 800 North, Chrisney.

* Sept. 13 and Oct. 11: Purdue Extension-Huntington County office, 1340 S. Jefferson St., Huntington.

* Sept. 21 and Oct. 19: Purdue Extension-Tippecanoe County office, 3150 Sagamore Parkway S, Lafayette.

* Sept. 21 and Oct. 19: Porter County Community Foundation, 1401 Calumet Ave, Valparaiso.

* Sept. 26 and Oct. 27: Purdue Extension-Allen County office, 4001 Crescent Ave., Fort Wayne.

* Oct. 24 and Nov. 21: Purdue Extension-Lake County office, 2293 N. Main St., Crown Point.

* Nov. 8 and Dec. 6: Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds, Farm Bureau Community Building, 1300 E. 100 S, Lebanon.

Each session runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. local time.

The Beginner's Guide to Grant Writing Workshop teaches grant writers of all skill levels how to prepare and submit a professional proposal.

During the workshop, participants will develop their ideas into written proposals. They will learn how to find funders as well as strategies for successful grant implementation.

“Over the years, participants of the Beginner’s Guide to Grant Writing workshop have gone on to win millions of dollars in grant funding, bringing vital programs and services, equipment, infrastructure, and amenities to communities all across Indiana,” said Kris Parker, Regional Community Development Educator with Purdue Extension.

Registration is $175 per person and includes a workbook, reference materials and lunch both days. Professional review of a draft proposal is also included.
