Indulge your palate at Vintage Indiana Food & Wine Festival

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Wine enthusiasts across the state are gearing up for this year’s Vintage Indiana Food & Wine Festival, hosted by the Purdue University Wine Grape Team. The 18th annual celebration of Indiana wineries will be held June 3 from noon to 6 p.m. at Military Park, 601 W. New York Ave., Indianapolis.

Visitors will have a chance to sample more than 200 award-winning wines from Indiana producers. There will also be food, live music and artisan booths, with chefs and winemakers demonstrating their crafts.

Katie Barnett, marketing extension specialist for Purdue’s Wine Grape Team, said Indiana is a major wine-producing state, with Hoosier vintners selling more than a million gallons annually.

“Winemaking is an integral player in Indiana’s rich agricultural heritage, a legacy that dates all the way back to 1802 - decades before there was an Indiana,” Barnett said. “Today, nearly 100 wineries can be found throughout our state. All are family-owned and operated, with multiple generations working side-by-side to grow their grapes and craft the wines they sell.”

The festival provides visitors with a unique opportunity to sample products from several of these wineries all in one place.

“That’s the beauty of Vintage Indiana, there is something for everyone at any age,” Barnett said.  “From sampling wines to sampling food to shopping artisan booths to exploring the tourism side, everyone is sure to have a good time.”

This event is open to anyone age 21 and older. The first 10,000 guests will receive an etched wine glass. Tickets are $30 in advance, $40 at the gate, and $50 for early admission. Designated drivers can purchase tickets for $10.
