Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

- Wesley Crawford, a professor in the School of Construction Management Technology in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award in April from the Associated Schools of Construction. Crawford has spent 40 years teaching in the construction industry. He has written a self-published textbook and, with his wife, started Creative Construction Publishing, distributing around 37,000 copies to universities and companies.

- Tim Detzner, lead campus arborist in the Physical Facilities Grounds Department, recently earned the designation board certified master arborist from the International Society of Arboriculture. This is the highest certification offered by the ISA. Detzner has been an ISA certified arborist for nearly 25 years. Fewer than two percent of ISA Certified Arborists obtain this credential. The written exam required for this designation covers 19 areas of knowledge including overarching categories of science, practice and management.

Notables:

- Purdue University Residences was recognized with the Presidents Institutional Award by the Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers for significant contributions to the organization. The following was shared at the GLACUHO closing banquet: "This institution took our theme of 'change' to heart before we did and has been building a unique faculty involvement program on their campus."

Rankings:

- The College of Education's online master's and doctoral degrees in educational leadership are ranked in the top five nationally by the Educational Leadership Degrees Program. The doctoral degree earned a ranking of second (http://www.educational-leadership-degrees.com/ed-d-educational-leadership-online/) while the master's degree was ranked fourth (http://www.educational-leadership-degrees.com/masters-educational-leadership-online/). The program ranked the master's and doctoral degrees in educational administration and supervision based on size, national recognition through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and tuition.
