Mexico, American political behavior expert

James McCann, professor of political science, studies political behavior in Mexico. He is the author of "Democratizing Mexico: Public Opinion and Electoral Choices" and he served as an international election observer in Mexico in 2000. He is part of a team of scholars collecting and evaluating survey data to understand how Mexico is making the transition from the dominant-party era to the new democratic system.

McCann also is an expert in American political behavior, such as electoral processes and participation, public opinion and political psychology, political polling, campaigns and elections. He also focuses on Mexican immigrants' political participation in the United States. He's been surveying this demographic about civic issues and political behavior since 2006. He is a co-principal investigator of the "2012 Latino Immigrant National Election Study" (LINES).
