WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – "Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage" - the staged production of the worldwide hit film with live music will be at 8 p.m. Sept. 10 at Purdue's Elliott Hall of Music. This performance is presented by Purdue Convocations with Friends support from Regions and Turning Pointe Academy for the Performing Arts.

Tickets are $26-57 for adults and $26-40 for children 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. The show is a live experience, with an eight-piece onstage band. Seen by millions across the world, the story features the hit songs "Hungry Eyes," "Hey Baby," "Do You Love Me?" and "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life."

It's the summer of 1963, and 17-year-old Frances "Baby" Houseman is on vacation in New York's Catskill Mountains with her older sister and parents. Mesmerized by the racy dance moves and pounding rhythms she discovers in the resort's staff quarters, Baby can't wait to be part of the scene, especially when she catches sight of Johnny Castle, the resort's dance instructor. Passions ignite and Baby's life changes when she is thrown into the deep end as Johnny's leading lady, both on-stage and off.

"Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage" began as an eight-week staged workshop in 2001 in Manhattan. It was first performed at the Theatre Royal in Sydney, Australia in 2004 before embarking upon a successful tour of Australia and New Zealand.
