Women in Operations tours GE Aviation facility

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —The first class of GE's Women in Operations program participants on Thursday (April 21) will tour GE Aviation's facility, 3700 U.S. Highway 52 S., Lafayette. The half-hour tour starts at 8:30 a.m.

The weeklong class held at Purdue University's Krannert School of Management was collaboratively designed by Purdue professors and GE.

The Women in Operations program focuses on employees in the fields of manufacturing, sourcing, materials, quality and environment, health and safety, and is part of the recruiting, promotion, and retention efforts by GE’s Women's Network.

About GE's Women's Network:

Founded in 1997, the mission of GE's Women’s Network is to foster development of professional women and to grow, attract and inspire them to be successful in GE. Development is focused on leadership, advancement and career broadening opportunities through a variety of training, education and networking opportunities. Women in Operations is a women's network program, designed for commercial women and women and technology.

GE and Purdue have a long history that dates back to GE's founder, Thomas Edison. Reginold Fessenden, the first faculty to be titled electrical engineer at Purdue, was once Edison's assistant. Purdue and GE continue to find common areas of research. In addition, GE continues to recruit at Purdue and employs over 1,200 Purdue graduates, hiring approximately 150 Purdue students annually.
