Traffic changed to four lanes on Harrison Street, parking removed

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Traffic on Harrison Street has been modified to two lanes in each direction from approximately South Martin Jischke Drive to Sheetz Street. In order to accommodate the extra lanes of traffic, on-street parking has been removed from this section of Harrison Street.

The roundabout at Harrison Street and Martin Jischke Drive will remain one lane, and two lanes of traffic in each direction will begin just to the east of the roundabout.

Due to the traffic pattern changes, pick-up and drop-off activities in front of Lynn Hall of Veterinary Medicine will no longer be permitted. Motorists should utilize the drive to the east of the building to pick up and drop off passengers.

Purdue police chief John Cox said there will be extra patrols in the area to ensure motorist and pedestrian safety.

"It is very important that people pay extra attention to the crosswalks and give proper right of way, and we will be watching for motorists speeding through the area and parking illegally," he said. "Both motorists and pedestrians need to be very aware due to the shift in traffic patterns."
