Prof on Indiana’s presidential primary, public opinion

James McCann, a Purdue University professor of political science, can talk about the presidential election, public opinion and divisive candidate nominations within each of the major parties related to the Tuesday (May 3) primary in Indiana.

McCann, who also is a co-principal investigator of the “2012 Latino Immigrant National Election Study” (LINES), also can talk about the political incorporation of immigrants in the United States. In 2006, he began surveying Mexican immigrants regarding political participation and other civic issues. 

McCann also can discuss:

      * Electoral processes and participation

      * Public opinion and political psychology

      * Political polling

      * Campaigns and elections

      * Political behavior in Mexico. He served as an international election observer in Mexico in 2000.

      * McCann is co-author of "Democratizing Mexico: Public Opinion and Electoral Choices," and he is part of a team of scholars collecting and evaluating survey data to understand how Mexico is making the transition from the dominant-party era to the new democratic system.
