The Illusionists - Live from Broadway to bring acts of illusion to Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Illusionists - Live from Broadway, the world's best-selling magic show, will bring sleight of hand on April 27 to Purdue's Elliott Hall of Music. This 7:30 p.m. performance is presented by Purdue Convocations with Friends support from Lafayette Bank & Trust and Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc.

"The Illusionists - Live from Broadway" is produced by Simon Painter, Tim Lawson and MagicSpace Entertainment. Conceived by Painter, the show's creative team also includes executive producer Lawson, director Neil Dorward and creative director Jim Millan. "The Illusionists" has shattered box office records worldwide and entertained audiences of all ages.

The seven stars are:

The Manipulator, Yu Ho-Jin

Yu Ho-Jin was recently named the 2014 Magician of the Year by Academy of Magical Arts and was the first Asian to win the Grand Prix at the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques, also known as the Olympics of Magic.

The Anti-Conjuror, Dan Sperry

Dan Sperry combines the art of magic with the macabre and is one of the top-10 most Googled people, thanks to an "America's Got Talent" appearance.

The Trickster, Jeff Hobson

Jeff Hobson is the epitome of glamour and showmanship. He has audiences laughing long after the curtain goes down.

The Escapologist, Andrew Basso

Italy's star escape artist, Andrew Basso considers Houdini his hero. He is the only person in the world to perform Houdini's Water Torture Cell with no covers.

The Inventor, Kevin James

Known for innovative illusions, Kevin James is an inventor, comedian and collector of the strange and unusual.

The Weapon Master, Ben Blaque

Ben Blaque established himself as America's foremost master of the crossbow after appearing four times on "America's Got Talent." He performs acts of dexterity using powerful crossbows to shoot various objects supported by his assistant.

The Daredevil, Jonathan Goodwin

British-born stunt performer Jonathan Goodwin has been hanged, buried alive, hung by his toes from helicopters, burned at the stake and attacked by sharks.

Initiated in 1902, Purdue Convocations was one of the first professional performing arts presenters in the United States. Each year, Convocations offers the region 30-40 performances of widely varying genres.
