Books and Coffee talks explore new, popular literary works

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University professors will discuss four contemporary books during the Books and Coffee series. The discussions are sponsored by the Department of English and Purdue Student Union Board.

Every Thursday in February, a faculty member will provide insights on a recently published book. The annual series launched in 1951.

The talks are 4-5 p.m. and will take place Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Refreshments will be provided starting at 4 p.m. and the presentation on the book begins at 4:30 p.m. Attendees also can enter a drawing for prizes from local merchants. 

Presenters and books are:

* Feb. 4 - John Duvall, professor of English, will present "Go Set a Watchmen," by Harper Lee. The talk is in Stewart Center, Room 302/306. 

* Feb. 11 – Elaine Francis, associate professor of English, will present "Between You & Me: Confessions of a Comma Queen," by Mary Norris. The talk is in Stewart Center, Room 302/306.

* Feb. 18 - Francis Robicheaux, professor of physics and astronomy, will present "What If? Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions," by Randall Munroe. The talk is in Stewart Center, Room 302/306.

* Feb. 25 - Sandor Goodhart, professor of English, will present "All the Light We Cannot See," by Anthony Doerr. The talk is in the South Ballroom of Purdue Memorial Union.
