BCC's Black Voices of Inspiration, Lafayette Symphony Orchestra to present 'Gospel Meets Symphony' on April 9

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Purdue University Black Cultural Center's Black Voices of Inspiration will combine with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra on April 9 to present its 41st annual spring concert.

Titled "Gospel Meets Symphony," the 7:30 p.m. concert will be at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N. 6th Street in Lafayette.

The Black Voices of Inspiration has collaborated with other groups across the nation and the world - including Purdue Musical Organizations, the Bach Chorale Singers of Lafayette and exchange programs with several Midwest colleges and universities – throughout its history.

This will be the second time these two organizations have collaborated on a concert.

James Dekle, BCC artist in residence, will direct the Black Voices of Inspiration, while Nicholas Palmer is the conductor of the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra.

"Every once in a while an opportunity comes by that affirms your sense of community and place, acknowledges your pride and history and inspires you. This is one of those opportunities," said Renee Thomas, BCC director. "This will be an evening filled with versatility, excitement and passion."

Tickets range from $8-$39 and are available at http://www.lafayettesymphony.org or by calling the Long Center Box Office at 765-742-6463.
