Purdue Bands and Orchestras fill November with music

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —Purdue Bands & Orchestras will bring music to November, hosting three concerts and Jazz Combo Wednesdays. All concerts are free and open to the public.
On Nov. 4, 11 and 18, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., student jazz ensembles will host Jazz Combo Wednesdays in the Marriott Hall Atrium. This is a partnership with the Purdue School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Dinner at the John Purdue Room or coffee from Lavazza will be available, along with classic jazz.
The Purdue "All-American" Marching Band will perform in three shows on Nov. 7. The first performance will be at the 211 session in Mackey Arena at 9:49 a.m. to kick off Homecoming with Purdue football players and cheerleaders. The second will be during the halftime show, with a "Tribute to Roy Johnson." The third will be a post-game show at 3:30 p.m. on Slayter Hill, featuring halftime songs, school songs and more.
All of Purdue's jazz bands will perform at the Purdue Jazz Jam at 8 p.m. on Nov. 20 in Loeb Playhouse. The concert will feature "The Main Stem," drawing selections from major jazz cities such as New York City's 52nd street and New Orleans' Bourbon Street.
Purdue's Wind Ensemble and Fall Concert Band will have a 2:30 p.m. concert on Nov. 22 at the Long Center in Lafayette. It will feature the "The Music of Frank Ticheli." All groups will perform music by the famous composer, including "San Antonio Dances" and "Blue Shades."
On Nov. 28, the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band will perform three more shows. The first will be at the 211 session in Mackey Arena, with the time to be determined, before the Old Oaken Bucket game against Indiana. The second will be during the halftime senior show. The third is a post-game performance at Slayter Hill.
