'Peter Rabbit Tales' hops to life on stage in November at Purdue
October 28, 2015
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In anticipation of the 150th anniversary of author Beatrix Potter's birth, Enchantment Theatre Company will bring Peter Rabbit to life on the stage with "Peter Rabbit Tales" on at 3 p.m. on Nov. 22 at Purdue's Loeb Playhouse. This performance is presented by Purdue Convocations.
This performance also includes a free pre-show activity for ticket holders at 2 p.m. in the Stewart Center west lobby. Participants will learn how to make a "Peter Rabbit" candy cane sled or ornament.
For over a century, "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" has enchanted young audiences worldwide with the exploits of the rabbit's adventures (and misadventures). The inspiration for this production comes from the original renderings of the tale's characters.
As Peter Rabbit and his cousin, Benjamin Bunny, reminisce about their childhood, they think they've had quite enough escapades for a lifetime. But when Benjamin's children disappear, the duo embarks on one last quest to escape from Mr. McGregor, outfox Mr. Tod, and rescue the Flopsy Bunnies. Through masks, puppets, scenery and original music, Peter Rabbit's world comes alive on stage.
This performance will last approximately 60 minutes and is recommended for ages 3 and older.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for those 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. Tickets are available at the Stewart Center box office at 765-494-3933 or 800-914-SHOW. Group tickets are also available to groups of 10 more.
