Indiana Horticultural Congress Jan. 19-21

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Produce farmers and agritourism operators are invited to attend Purdue Extension's Indiana Horticultural Congress and Trade Show Jan. 19-21.

Participants can attend workshops to hear advice on various business and management topics in horticulture as well as network with a variety of professionals.

Speakers will discuss topics such as fresh fruit and vegetable management, high tunnel management, agritourism, food safety and regulatory concerns, pest and disease control, marketing, processing and production practices.

During the trade show, participants can talk with vendors of irrigation supplies, plant protection products, seeds, processed foods and equipment.

Special events include:

* Indiana Wine Reception and Awards Banquet.

* Cider judging contest.

* Hops and hemp research update.

* Silent auction.

* Pesticide core exam.

* Pesticide applicator recertification.

* Social hour.

Certified private pesticide applicators may attend a recertification session Jan. 20. There is a small additional fee to attend the session, and participants must know their private applicator license number. Licensed commercial applicators in Category 1 may attend sessions for continuing certification hours.

The event will be at the Wyndham Indianapolis West, 2544 Executive Drive, Indianapolis.

Cost is $100 for those who sign up by Jan. 13. Students and educators are eligible for free admittance.
