Pinney Purdue Ag Center field day offers exhibit booths, evening program

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Field visits, vendor exhibits and presentations by Purdue Extension educators and experts will highlight the Aug. 19 Pinney Purdue Agricultural Center Field Day.

The center is located at 11402 County Line Road, Wanatah, two miles west of U.S. 421 and one-half mile north of U.S. 30.

Participants will have an opportunity to tour the facility and network with other farmers and ag industry managers, as well as learn about the latest industry issues and trends.

Topics and presenters are:

* "What's the Economic Outlook Looking Like?" Chris Hurt, Extension agricultural economist and professor of agricultural economics.

* "Establishing Strong Corn and Dealing with Flood Issues." Bob Nielsen, Extension corn specialist and professor of agronomy.

* "How to Properly Clean Out a Sprayer." Fred Whitford, Purdue pesticide program coordinator. 

Registration and booths will open at 7:30 a.m. CDT and field tours begin at 9:20 a.m.

A pork chop lunch is provided for those participating in the morning program.  

A twilight program is planned on the same day for those unable to attend the morning programs. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and presentations start at 6 p.m.

Participants needing recertification credits for a private applicator pesticide license can receive a credit at both programs. Bring the license and $10 for registration.

Commercial pesticide applicators can get continuing certification hours and certified crop advisers can receive needed continuing education units.
