Mothers, daughters invited to learn about engineering

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University's Women in Engineering Program and the YWCA Greater Lafayette will host a free mother-daughter engineering program Aug. 1.
The program for fourth- through sixth-grade girls and their mothers will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the YWCA, 605 N. Sixth St.
During the event, students will participate in hands-on engineering and science projects, learn leadership and academic skills, and experience how engineers make a difference in the world, all under the guidance of Purdue women engineering students.
Mothers and daughters will work on a project together. Students also will work on projects with each other while mothers learn about encouraging their daughters' interest in science and engineering.
A free reception for dads and siblings will begin at noon.
