What the Indy 500 means for Indy

Jonathon Day, associate professor, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Day can talk about the tourism advantages to Indianapolis from the 500 and related events. He is a Certified Incentive Travel Executive with the Society of Incentive Travel Executives. In 2000 he was named one of Travel Agents magazine's "100 Rising Stars" of destination marketing. His research interests are destination branding, sustainable tourism and hospitality practices.

Car racing and STEM Education

Danny White, manager of Purdue motorsports initiatives. He is involved in the International Electric Vehicle Grand Prix, held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May. He also leads MSTEM3, a program designed to use motorsports to interest sixth- through 12th-grade students in STEM disciplines. White has a background in open-wheel racing, safety management and advanced manufacturing. He is a member of the Haas Technical Education Centers HTEC Council, the National Motorsports Safety Foundation, Electric Motorsports Association of North America, USAC and IndyCar.
