Co-founder of Kickstarter to speak during Forge Innovation Series

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Charles Adler, co-founder of Kickstarter, an online platform for individuals to fund creative projects, will speak at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (April 30) at the Anvil as part of the Forge Innovation Series, a speaking series that showcases Midwestern innovators and entrepreneurs.

The Anvil, a community co-working space located at 320 North St., West Lafayette, will host the event, with support from the Purdue Research Foundation and the City of West Lafayette.

Adler and two friends, Perry Chen and Yancey Stricker, launched Kickstarter in 2009. During Adler's time as head of design at Kickstarter, 5.2 million people pledged $866 million to fund 52,000 projects. Adler left Kickstarter in 2013 to consult on different projects.

Adler will speak on his experiences as a co-founder of three startups: Kickstarter; Subsystence, a platform dedicated to leveraging the Web to provide global exposure to the work of independent artists; and Source-ID, a multi-disciplinary design studio.
