PMO ensembles to perform free concert Sunday Nov. 9

October 30, 2014

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Four Purdue Musical Organizations ensembles will perform a fall concert Nov. 9 at Loeb Playhouse.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, will feature the Purdue Bells, University Choir, Heart & Soul and the All Campus & Community Chorale. It will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Stewart Center's Loeb Playhouse.

"We had a record number of students interested in joining PMO this year, and the students' energy and enthusiasm will show in their performance," said Bill Griffel, Purdue Musical Organizations director. "The audience will hear a variety of musical selections - everything from gospel and patriotic tunes to more traditional choral music. Each group will have a chance to perform on its own before combining for the finale."

The concert will mark the first performance of the year for the All Campus & Community Chorale, which includes Purdue students, faculty and staff as well as members of the Greater Lafayette community.

Each ensemble is one of a variety of performance opportunities within Purdue Musical Organizations. More than 250 students perform with PMO annually in more than 100 shows. Purdue has no school of music, so nearly every academic major is represented in the organization. PMO has high academic standards as well, with an average grade point average of 3.07 for each ensemble.
