Musical celebrates 50th anniversary of a family classic

November 5, 2014

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The "Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley" will make a stop at Purdue University's Loeb Playhouse at 3 p.m. on Nov. 16. This performance is presented by Purdue Convocations.

The performance also includes a free pre-show activity for ticket holders at 2 p.m. Participants can make their own Flat Stanley cutout in the Stewart Center West Lobby.

Jeff Brown's book "Flat Stanley" celebrates its 50th anniversary as a family classic. The musical stage adaptation by Dallas Children's Theater has followed in its footsteps.

"What I love about the show are all the teachable moments that don't feel like lessons," says DCT's guest director Michael Serrecchia. "It's a fun, Broadway-style musical comedy about the value of being different and the importance of family."

This performance will last approximately 65 minutes and is recommended for ages 5 and older.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for those 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. Tickets are available at the Stewart Center box office at 765-494-3933, 800-914-SHOW or online through www.convocations.org/tickets
