WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Elaine Ostrander, a researcher from the National Human Genome Research Institute, will speak at the inaugural Coppoc One Health Lecture at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in Lynn Hall, Room 1136.

Ostrander, a National Institutes of Health distinguished investigator and head of the Comparative Genetics Section, will talk about the contributions of research toward human and animal health and well-being. Her research focuses on genetic mapping as it relates to cancer in humans and their canine companions.

The lecture, which is preceded by a reception at 6 p.m., is free and open to the public.

The program is in honor of Gordon Coppoc, a Purdue professor of veterinary pharmacology, and his wife, Harriet. A longtime faculty member and former head of the Department of Basic Medical Sciences in the Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine, Coppoc now serves as director of the Indiana University School of Medicine-Lafayette and associate dean of the Indiana University School of Medicine.
