Dancers, musicians intersect in 'Come, and Back Again'

October 7, 2014

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - David Dorfman Dance will perform "Come, And Back Again" at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 in Purdue University's Loeb Playhouse.  This performance is presented by Purdue Convocations.

The performance also includes a free post-show discussion in Loeb Playhouse with the choreographer and artists for ticket holders immediately following the performance.

David Dorfman's newest opus, "Come, And Back Again," is an exploration of the daily virtuosity required to navigate the little details of life, especially when the big details - like, say, mortality - are woven into it.

Propelled by indie, punk, and folk-rock music - including artists such as Atlanta band "Smoke" and Patti Smith - five dancers and five musicians embark on an anthem of reckless personal abandon - taking on time and how memory influences and manages our existence. Dancers and musicians cohabitate on the stage and often find their worlds intersecting. "Come, and Back Again" is a work about loss and survival; beauty and love; and resilience and life - and its mess.

Tickets are $32 for adults and $22 for those 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. Tickets are available at the Stewart Center box office at 765-494-3933, 800-914-SHOW or online through www.convocations.org/tickets.
