WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. and PUNE, India - Bearing Analytics, an early-stage company whose technology could predict failure in industrial rotating machinery, reduce maintenance expenditures and improve worker safety, has changed its name to DATTUS.

DATTUS CEO Anurag Garg said the name change reflects the company's expanded scope beyond bearing monitoring technology to also include additional sensor technologies, and providing networking, cloud solutions and failure prediction analytics to its industrial clients.

"We provide an end-to-end solution for industrial asset monitoring, leveraging better data gathering capabilities and delivering superior value through data analytics," he said. "With our analytics capabilities, we seek to generate actionable information that maintenance engineers can act upon: what machine will fail, when it will fail and how it will fail, which allows them to fix problems before they result in expensive, unplanned downtime."

Garg said DATTUS' solutions have been developed based on input he and his colleagues received from industry leaders and more than 200 customer interviews they conducted to identify unmet needs.

DATTUS also has opened a center in Pune, India where its R&D operations are based. The Pune office is led by co-founder and Vice President of R&D Lokesh Gupta, Ph.D.

"Pune is a large industrial hub where several major, multinational industrial technology corporations have established development centers," Gupta said. "Opening DATTUS India brings us closer to Asian markets and provides access to great talent for research and development of new technologies."

DATTUS has received a $100,000 grant from FOUNDER.org, a San Francisco-based global student entrepreneur investor and company-building program, and is part of the FOUNDER.org Class of 2015 where the company receives mentoring from world-class mentors in the 8D company-building program. DATTUS previously was awarded a $100,000 DOE Sponsored Grant through the Chicago-based Clean Energy Trust, and was one of six national finalists at the 2013 DOE Clean Energy Challenge.

DATTUS also has received support from the Purdue Foundry, an entrepreneurial hub based in the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship. DATTUS is located in the Purdue Research Park of West Lafayette.
