Appointments, honors and activities

• Faculty and staff honors:
- Victor Raskin, Distinguished Professor of English and Linguistics and associate director of CERIAS, with courtesy appointments at the departments of Computer Science and Computer and Information Technology, received a lifetime achievement award from the International Society of Humor Studies during its recent annual meeting at Utrecht (Netherlands) University. The ISHS board periodically confers a lifetime achievement award to a researcher who has made a major contribution to humor studies, said Martin Lampert, executive secretary for the ISHS and professor of psychology at Holy Names University in Oakland, California. Raskin was honored for his 35 years of theoretical work and empirical research, which has had a major impact in the field and influenced the work of many other humor studies scholars. Raskin was the founder and first editor of the Society's journal, HUMOR: International Journal of Humor Research.
- Krannert School of Management's Roland G. Parrish Library of Management and Economics has been named one of the 30 most impressive university business school libraries by Business Research Guide. The Parrish Library is ranked 11th. Libraries were selected based on size and variety of selections, additional services, associations and reputation, and special features. - Purdue is ranked 76th in Money magazine's list of "The Best Colleges for Your Money." The magazine ranked 665 four-year institutions in the U.S. based on 17 factors in three categories.
