Appointments, honors and activities

July 3, 2014

Faculty and staff honors:

- Monica Cardella, a Purdue associate professor in engineering education, has been selected as the new director of the School of Engineering Education's Institute for P-12 Engineering Research and Learning (INSPIRE). Cardella, who joined the Purdue faculty in 2007, has served as the director of Informal Learning Environments Research at INSPIRE. Her appointment is effective immediately. INSPIRE was created with a five-year grant from the S.D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation in 2006. Funding for the Institute's nearly three-dozen staff, graduate and undergraduate students is now secured through research grants and support from other foundations. Along with Cardella, INSPIRE involves the work of five other engineering education faculty members.
