Media technology teams to compete for more than $10,000 at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Teams of Purdue students on Tuesday (April 29) will pitch ideas for new media technology to a panel of seven industry experts at the Schurz Communications Innovation Challenge at Purdue: New Ideas in Media Technology.

More than $10,000 in cash prizes will be awarded at the biannual competition, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Lawson Computer Science Building, 305 N. University St.

Eleven teams have eight minutes to present their idea and a working prototype to a panel of judges. Judges include Neil Berman of Delivra, Scott Blanchard of Cook Medical, Brian Green of WASK Radio, Jeanette Greener of Purdue, Bill Russell of Allegient, Mike Shamus of WKOA Radio and Keith Williams of Caktus Music.

Winners of the Schurz Communications Innovation Challenge will receive $5,000, $3,500 and $1,500 for first, second and third places. Attendees will select the winner of a "Crowd Favorite" prize worth $500.

Mishawaka, Ind.-based Schurz Communications sponsors the competition, which is organized by Purdue Foundry. Competitions are held once each semester. The competition has limited space for attendees. RSVP to foundry@prf.org to reserve a seat.
