7 Purdue students receive full-ride Stamps scholarships

June 19, 2014

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Seven incoming students, including four from Indiana, have been awarded Stamps Scholarships, which have recently increased to cover all costs for an undergraduate degree at Purdue University.

The full-ride scholarship is made possible by Purdue scholarship funds and the Stamps Family Charitable Foundation Inc., said Jennifer Dexter, senior assistant director and scholarship coordinator for the Office of Admissions. In addition to the monetary award, these scholars will each have access to a $10,000 enrichment fund to help cover expenses for study opportunities, such as conferences, seminars, study abroad programs, leadership training and research internships.

This year's recipients are:

* Samuel Albert, Nashville, Tennessee, studying first-year engineering

* Emma Alexander, Columbus, Indiana, studying first-year engineering

* Hannah Basham, Fort Wayne, Indiana, studying exploratory studies with a science interest

* Eric Buedel, Evansville, Indiana, studying mathematics and actuarial science.

* Beau DeLaet, Wausaukee, Wisconsin, studying first-year engineering

* Claire Lee, Indianapolis, studying political science

* Jana Mudrock, New Lenox, Illinois, studying first-year engineering

Students receiving the scholarship are selected based on a pool of the highest achieving high school seniors who were admitted by mid-December. These students are identified by the Office of Admissions and are then invited to apply. Applications are reviewed by a committee, which decides who will be nominated for the scholarship. A representative from the Stamps Foundation interviews each nominee to select recipients.
