Women in Agriculture regional meeting to be held in Indiana
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Extension Women in Agriculture will sponsor a regional meeting in White County for those who were unable to attend the Midwest conference in Louisville, Ky.
The meeting will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST March 11 at the Purdue Extension White County office 12 N. 25 E, Reynolds.
"The Women in Ag team is trying something new this year by offering a one-day regional meeting in the part of the state opposite of where the Midwest conference is being held," said Kelly Heckaman of Purdue Extension in Kosciusko County and an organizer of the meeting. "We realize that not everyone can travel to the larger conference, but we wanted to give them an opportunity to still learn."
This regional meeting will explain the role of women in making a family farm profitable and give attendees an opportunity to network and share experiences with others in similar positions.
Session titles and presenters:
* "Finding Balance in Farmland Lease Contracts," by the Purdue Land Lease Team.
* "Overcoming Financial Adversities, " presented by Lynn Lambert of Lambert, Lanoue & Smoker LLC.
* "Risk Management for Grain Marketing in 2014," by Corrine Alexander, Purdue Extension agriculture economist.
* "Saving the Farm Before a Truck Accident Happens," by Fred Whitford, Purdue Pesticide Programs coordinator.
Hot topics will consist of a palmer amaranth update, the benefits of on-farm research and Code Red Book notebook.
