Bond's appearance, MLK celebration convocation canceled

February 3, 2014

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University's Dr. Martin Luther King Commemorative lecture by Julian Bond scheduled for Tuesday (Feb. 4) has been canceled. Renee Thomas, director of Purdue's Black Cultural Center and co-chair of the Martin Luther King Planning Committee, said winter storm watches here and on the East Coast forced the cancellation.

This is the second time the lecture has been canceled. Inclement weather on the East Coast, preventing Bond from traveling to West Lafayette, forced the original lecture on Jan. 21 to be canceled. Tuesday was the rescheduled date.
