Fans urged to wear gold or black for Sept. 14 Notre Dame game at Ross-Ade Stadium

August 19, 2013

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - In an attempt to create a visual experience for the Sept. 14 national television audience for the Purdue-Notre Dame football game at Ross-Ade Stadium, Purdue officials are encouraging fans to wear either gold or black in designated sections, depending on where their seats are located.

"We have a special opportunity to play Notre Dame in prime time on national television," Purdue head coach Darrell Hazell said. "Let's take advantage of this opportunity to show the college football world how passionate Purdue fans are. Wear either gold or black based on your seat location, and let's make Ross-Ade Stadium look better than it ever has before."

People with tickets in sections 101 through 105 - the primary area for visitor seating – are asked to wear gold, while the Purdue student sections, 106 through 115, wear black. Sections 116 through 124 will don gold and sections 125 through 134 go with black.

"Fans across the nation have had fun doing this sort of thing in the past and we'd really like to see it catch on at Purdue," says David Wilson, Purdue's director of Trademark Licensing. "We would like to see the fans embrace the idea and come to the game wearing the appropriate colors."

Specially designed T-shirts promoting the football team's One Brick Higher theme are available in gold and black colors at Wal-Mart stores throughout Central and Northwest Indiana as well as at University Book Store and the Purdue Team Store at Ross-Ade Stadium. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts go to the 12th Boiler Scholarship Fund in the John Purdue Club to help endow a Purdue football scholarship.

The shirts are also available at select local retailers in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area, including Dick’s, Finish Line, Follett's, Purdue Pride, University Bookstore and University Spirit.

Sales are handled through the university's online store at http://www.purdueofficialstore.com.

Tickets for the game are available as part of the Purdue season ticket package or through single-game sales featuring dynamic pricing.
