Water main replacement to affect West Lafayette traffic near Purdue campus during May, June

May 7, 2013

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Commuters in the West Lafayette area near Purdue University's campus should anticipate possible detours and temporary road closures in the coming weeks due to a water main replacement.

The work is scheduled in the 500 block of Hayes Street and at West Stadium Avenue between Hayes and North Grant Street. Replacement of service lines under Garfield Street, south of West Stadium Avenue, also is included in this project.

Work is scheduled to begin in mid-May and be complete by mid-June.

Commuters are asked to look for traffic flaggers, detour signs and barricades designed to help properly guide traffic through the area and alert drivers of the work ahead.

Pedestrians also are advised to exercise caution by staying on sidewalks and observing all signage, barricades and construction fencing.
