Candlelight vigil, commemorative address to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 24) will precede the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Address.

Participants in the vigil will meet at the Black Cultural Center and march to Loeb Playhouse in Stewart Center. The commemorative address will be at 7 p.m.

Melissa V. Harris-Perry, host of MSNBC's "Melissa Harris-Perry" and a professor of political science at Tulane University, will give the address.

The Purdue Dreamer Award and the Purdue Dream Teacher Award K-12 also will be presented at the MLK lecture.
