• Faculty and staff honors:
- Marianne Boruch, professor of creative writing and poetry, is a finalist for the $100,000 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award for her book of poetry, "The Book of Hours," published by Copper Canyon Press. This award is given annually for a book by a poet who is past the very beginning but has not yet reached the pinnacle of his or her career. Winners will be announced in March and recognized during a ceremony at Claremont Graduate University in April. More information available at http://www.cgu.edu/pages/4546.asp?item=6939
• Notables:
- Michael McNamara, an assistant professor in the Department of Theatre, is the new co-author for the sixth edition of "Designing with Light: An Introduction to Stage Lighting." The well-known textbook on lighting design and technology for the performing arts is published by McGraw-Hill. J. Michael Gillette, the original author, is co-author of the sixth edition.
• Student honors:
- Ethan Vail, a senior from Michigan City, Ind., studying theatre, has won the United States Institute of Theatre Technology Young Designers and Technicians Lighting Design Award. The award is sponsored by the Barbizon Lighting Co.
