Appointments, honors and activities

• Faculty and staff honors:
- John O. Greene, a professor in the Brian Lamb School of Communication, has been named director of the Publications Board for the National Communication Association. In this three-year position on the association's executive committee, he will oversee its publication programs, including 11 scholarly journals. Greene's areas of research include interpersonal communication, nonverbal communication and communication theory.
• Student honors:
- Laurie Pinkert, a doctoral candidate in Purdue's rhetoric and composition program, is one of seven recipients of the K. Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award for 2013. The award, given by the Association of American Colleges and Universities, recognizes graduate students who show exemplary promise as future leaders of higher education.
