Chris Hurt

Chris Hurt: Chris was persistent in getting to the state fairgrounds in Indianapolis on a very challenging morning when he was scheduled to appear on a panel reviewing the USDA's August crop production report. The panel discussion was held on the day when Interstate 65 and U.S. 52 were closed at Lebanon because of an accident, essentially cutting off traffic from campus to Indianapolis. Although Chris understandably was 20 minutes late because of traffic rerouting, he didn't miss a beat in contributing his expertise to the discussion. After having only a few minutes to read the report on stage, he seamlessly joined the discussion, putting the report into its proper context for producers and the public. It was a hectic morning for Chris not only because of the traffic delay he faced but also because he had to be at the Indianapolis airport by noon to catch a flight. Still, he took time after the panel discussion to do media interviews, making it to the airport with only minutes to spare. This is just one example of how Chris continually goes above and beyond in service to the public through Extension. -- Keith Robinson
