Jill Blume

Jill Blume: Jill did a brilliant job organizing the 2010 INDY International Wine Competition, which for the first time in almost 20 years was held on the Purdue campus last month. At the event, 7,330 bottles of wine were lined up in the magnificent Purdue Memorial Union ballrooms, where 52 invited professional wine judges awarded more than 2,000 medals and trophies to wines sent from 15 countries. The award for best white wine of the year went to Indiana’s very own French Lick Winery and their beautiful Traminette, made from our state signature grape variety, which was chosen by the Purdue Wine Grape Action Team last year. Jill’s energy and positive spirit also greatly inspired the more than 50 helpers and students, our Pit Cru, whose efforts made the event as smooth and sophisticated as possible. We’re proud of you, Jill! -- Christian Butzke
