Editor's note: Since 2010, Purdue Today has invited faculty and staff to recognize the good work of others on campus through its weekly "Thumbs Up" feature. The newsletter periodically will publish an expanded version of this popular feature in an effort to further call attention to employees' excellent work.
Claudine Meilink, associate director of corporate outreach at Krannert School of Management, recognizes Jennifer Shirley, director of financial affairs at Krannert, and Jennifer Highland, administrative assistant for the Krannert Professional Development Center, for their assistance during a recent business trip.
On a recent business trip to the District of Columbia, I was pickpocketed. Among other things, the thief stole my driver's license, my personal credit card and my Purdue corporate card.
I immediately called the Krannert Business Office, and Jen Shirley provided me with all the information I needed to cancel my corporate card. She also shared her personal cell phone number and told me to call her if I needed anything. Knowing I was concerned with traveling the next day, Jen followed up with several emails on flying without identification and how to contact TSA.
Back on campus, word traveled fast, and soon I received a text from my department's administrative assistant, Jen Highland, just to see if I was okay and if there was anything she could do to help. I shared with Jen that I planned to meet alumni for dinner that night. Jen called ahead to the restaurant and arranged payment.
Between these two ladies, I felt so supported. They turned a negative experience into something positive!
