Soledad Morales, Paul Otero and the evening shift Building Services staff, and Kevin Thedans and his crew (Radiological and Environmental Management): I want to pass along the Department of Chemistry's gratitude to everyone from these two departments that helped in the major flood in the basement of Wetherill on March 21. The evening Building Services staff led by Soledad Morales and Paul Otero did a fantastic job of keeping as much water as possible from entering Brown Laboratory of Chemistry by standing their ground in the basement hall with wet vacs and securing doors with duct tape to divert water. Several stayed overtime to assist with water removal. Kevin Thedans and his crew went above and beyond on recovery/cleanup. Not only did all of them come in in the middle of the night to assist in water removal, but they also worked directly with the room occupants to get things cleaned so the research could continue. They cleaned every room that had any water in it to where they looked better than before the flood. It is times like this that having these people on campus is not only appreciated but critical! Thank you! -- Blaine Schutz (Chemistry)
