Annual Green Week set to celebrate sustainably with events for the campus community

 
The Campus Planning, Architecture and Sustainability department will lead Purdue’s celebration of Green Week 2021 on Oct. 25-29. Green Week will be filled with events and activities that help promote and encourage sustainability efforts. Events listed below are open to the West Lafayette campus community, including faculty and staff. Registration is not required unless otherwise noted.

Monday, Oct. 25

Clothing Swap and Donation. Collaboration with the Purdue Student Sustainability Council and Purdue Student Government Executive Committee on Sustainability. Bring clothes to donate or choose some new-to-you items. Unclaimed articles of clothing will be donated to a local shelter. 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Krach Leadership Center lobby. Also 1-4 p.m., Memorial Mall.

Tuesday, Oct. 26

Purdue Student Farm Tour and Work Evening. 5:30-7 p.m., Purdue Student Farm (Cherry Lane Intramural Fields). Food will be provided to registered volunteers in attendance. Tour the student farm and help prepare the farm for winter.

  • All attendees must wear closed-toe shoes.
  • Attendees are encouraged to bring work gloves.
  • Registration is required and must be completed by midnight on Oct. 24.

Wednesday, Oct. 27

Sustainability Education Table. 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Outside of the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall. Win some fun prizes for answering questions about recycling efforts and energy efficiency on campus.

Thursday, Oct. 28

Final Farmers Market of the season. 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Memorial Mall. Come for lunch, and pick up fresh produce or baked goods to take home.

Stronger Together Sustainability Student Organizations Fair. 11 a.m.-3 p.m., south of the Farmers Market on Memorial Mall. A variety of sustainability organizations will be present to share information with students who are looking to connect with others.

Boilermaker Bike Tour with the Purdue Cycling Club and Purdue University Transportation Service. 11:30 a.m.-noon, bike tent at the Farmers Market. Bring your bicycle and join in for a guided ride around campus to explore Purdue’s bike infrastructure. All cyclists are encouraged to wear helmets.

As a reminder, Purdue for Life Foundation is hosting the Purdue Day of Service at Horticulture Park on Friday, Oct. 29. Those already registered for the tree planting and beautification of Horticulture Park should check in at the corner of McCormick Road and Third Street. Parking will be available in the McCutcheon Drive Parking Garage.

All events will adhere to Protect Purdue guidelines. If an event is held indoors, attendees must wear face masks, regardless of vaccination status.
