Lunch and learn session to target Type 2 diabetes, share information on more comprehensive program

On Nov. 12, the Center for Healthy Living (CHL) on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus will offer a Type 2 diabetes overview via a lunch and learn session. The session will cover the basics of Type 2 diabetes and the role nutrition, exercise and prescriptions play in managing the disease. Additionally, the eight-week Type 2 diabetes course titled “Taking Control of My Diabetes” will be discussed.

The session will take place from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. at Stewart Center, Room 313. Interested individuals should register by Nov. 11 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. Registration link can be found under the “Engage” tab, “Wellness Events” on the portal’s homepage.

According to Cheryl Laszynski, registered nurse health coach at CHL, who is presenting the session, participants will get a quick look at Type 2 diabetes and see a sneak peek into what the comprehensive program offers.

“Those living with Type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes will benefit from the information we’ll provide during the session,” Laszynski says. “Additionally, it will open the door for participants to ask questions about our 'Taking Control of My Diabetes' program that will be offered in 2020.”

Any questions regarding the session or the upcoming program can be directed to the center at 765-494-0111.

Workshops provided by the Center for Healthy Living are free to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan.
